Top Dentistry Schools In The Philippines According To Board Exam Results

Dentistry students have to grit their teeth (pun intended!) to pass the Dentistry Board Exam; you have to pass the written exam before you can move forward to the practical exam—a test that requires you to perform dental procedures on a real patient! But studying in one of the top dentistry schools in the Philippines can arm you with the confidence and skills to ace the test.  

If you’re on the lookout for the best dentistry schools in the country, check out this list of universities that topped the Dentistry Board Exam from 2016 to 2018 exam. 

FYI: The board exam results for the written and practical phases are announced separately; each phase has its own set of passers, topnotchers, and top performing schools.

I. Written Exam

These are the top performing schools during the Dentistry Board Exam written phase from December 2017, May 2017, January 2017, and June 2016 according to FindUniversity.ph! Note: The passing rate includes first-time takers only.

University of the Philippines-Manila

UP Manila is one of the eight universities of the University of the Philippines (UP) System. The school offers courses in health sciences, health professions education, arts, and sciences. Throughout the years, the university continues to prove its academic excellence in various licensure exams; UP Manila obtained a solid 100% passing rate in the Dentistry Board Exam!

Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Manila Campus

EAC started as a midwifery school in 1957. Today, the private academic institution has two campuses in Manila and Cavite. The EAC-Manila Campus has 22 undergraduate and graduate programs accredited by the Philippine Association for Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA). The school is also certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in Quality Management System.

In the previous Dentistry Board Exams, EAC-Manila garnered a 100% rating with 22 out of 22 examinees who passed!

Cebu Doctors’ University

Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) is an academic health-science oriented institution founded in 1975. The school was one of the first nursing colleges in Cebu. The university’s undergraduate and graduate programs in Nursing, Medical Technology, Biology, Educational Management, and Organizational Development and Transformation are PAASCU accredited!

Cebu Doctors’ University is also famous for its excellent performance in the Dentistry Board Exams with a 92% rating!

University of Baguio

Established in 1948, the University of Baguio (UB) became one of the top universities in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). The private university is also known to produce topnotchers in several licensure examinations. In the Dentistry Board Exam, the University of Baguio obtained a 92% rating with 48 out of 52 examinees passing the board exam!

Centro Escolar University-Makati

Centro Escolar University (CEU) Makati is a private institution that opened in 2005.

CEU Makati is famous for its School of Law and Jurisprudence, as well as programs in Dentistry, Medical Technology, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Psychology. For the past years, the university consistently ranked high in the Dentistry Board Exams with a 90% passing rate on four board exams from 2016 to 2017!

II. Practical Exam

These are the top performing schools during the Dentistry Board Exam Practical Phase results from January 2018, April 2017, January 2017, to June 2016 according to FindUniversity.ph. Note: The passing rate includes first-time takers only.

Centro Escolar University-Manila

Centro Escolar University (CEU) Manila is a private academic institution highly recognized for its undergraduate and graduate programs in the health sciences. Such courses include Dentistry, Pharmacy, Medical Technology, Optometry, and Nursing. It’s no surprise that CEU Manila has consistently topped the Practical Phase of the Dentistry Board Exam! 344 out of the 344 examines passed!

The university has also received several awards and accreditation from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Federation of Accrediting Associations of the Philippines (FAAP), Philippine Quality Award by the Philippine Government, the ISO 9001:2008 System Certification, and Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice (For the Church and the Pope) Papal Award.

University of the East-Manila

In 1946, Dr. Francisco T. Dalupan Sr. first established the University of the East (UE) as a review class for the Certified Public Accountant Examination. Yet today, UE is also known for its excellent performance in the Dentistry Board Exam garnering a 100% passing rate from 2016-2018! For the past 71 years, the home of the Red Warriors also takes pride in producing hundreds of notable alumni from government officials, businessmen, celebrities, to a renowned National Artist.

University of the Philippines-Manila

Consistency is key! UP Manila continues to be a top performing school in the  Dentistry Board Exam Practical Phase with a 100% rating! With the Philippine General Hospital Dental Clinic as their main training ground, UP dentistry students are definitely brimming with expertise and experience!

Also, did you know the UPM College of Dentistry is the country’s first dental school to have a Department of Community Dentistry?  Since then, students have provided dental services to UP Integrated School students and Krus na Ligas residents. Utak at Puso it is!
