I didn’t pass Top 4 but…

I won’t be studying in any Big Four

It’s already graduation season, have you decided which university you’ll go to?

Without a doubt, every senior high school student has prepared themselves to face one of the challenging parts of being a graduating student – the college entrance exam.

Because of the intense competition, students have always studied hard and looked forward to acing their entrance exams to their desired and dream universities. With their dream degree programs, many also have specific schools that they want to study in for the following years and many could attest that most people want to go to either ADMU, DLSU, UP, or UST— the Big Four universities, all located in the Metro.

And when results come out, not everyone gets into their dream Big Four university. Being one of them, you may suddenly question yourself if you’re still worthy of pursuing any other universities or programs, for not being able to pass the Big Four.

If this is you, here are three tips you may find helpful for your next journey!

Tip 1: Get out of your comfort zone and nurture your passion at St. Scholastica’s College Manila

Chances are, you have friends or batchmates who passed one or all of the schools under the Big Four and yet many can also relate to your rejection story—even being waitlisted, prolonging your unwanted agony, and waiting for another set of results before your acceptance stage.

It’s very normal for young people, especially high school students, to be pressured and to worry if they fit into a particular field. Believe it or not, peer pressure plays an essential role in our lives, especially for students who spend most of their time studying. While you also have to live with it, you can still enjoy tagging along with the pressure you’ve been feeling, even though it won’t be an easy ride.

For starters, your interests and pursuits like joining various organizations or sports clubs can influence the people around you. Joining co-curricular activities inside and outside your comfort zone for extra credentials can also help while waiting for your exciting college life! In short, you and your friends can be more goal-oriented while also helping one another towards one destination: To graduate with flying colors.

Tip 2: Now that it’s not the end–you can have a new beginning as an empowered Kulasa ready for change!

Like any other university in Manila, you can definitely experience the fun that not only the Big Four universities can give you. Many colleges offer a wide-ranging horizon to their current and new students, and even continuously support and give recognition to their respective alumni in all fields in the country.

Like SSC Manila, many notable women have graduated and are now dominating their respective industries. Senator Risa Hontiveros, CEO and Executive Editor of Rappler Maria Ressa, and Ben&Ben bassist and keyboardist Agnes Reoma and Patricia Lasaten, just to name a few.

New beginnings in college are indeed scary and uncertain. An entire room full of unfamiliar faces. Unknown opportunities and expectations. You may not know what’s ahead of you but that’s definitely fine! You have every time in the world to figure out what’s in for you during these times and you have your new professors, friends, and schoolmates to help and guide you all the way.

By coming out of your comfort zone, you’ll get to discover the things you will possibly like, especially when joining organizations and other extracurricular activities. With these aspects, you will not only enjoy and meet new people, but you will also be able to empower the future “you” all the way along.

Everyone you find on your new campus will help and guide you to become an unrecognizable yet better version of yourself. Everyone may have a strong personality, voice, and sense of self, and being one of them also means that you’ll be focusing your energies on better productive pursuits while being in a conducive learning environment.

Tip 3: Chin up, and get ready for a bright future at SCC Manila

As a Kulasa, many brighter things and new opportunities are also waiting for you.

Being competent while also being proactive and analytical is what St. Scholastica’s College Manila provides its students and alumni with, in every single thing they are passionate to do during and after studying.

They help students know what’s convenient and accessible for them, while also trying to help them in pursuing things outside the four corners of their classrooms. Because of this, students are enthusiastic about looking forward to practicing in their respective fields after graduating college, with professors also giving them insight into their real-life experiences.

If you think carefully about it, it doesn’t really matter what college or university you will be studying in the next chapter of your life. It’s all about the lessons, new people you’ll meet, new places you’ll go to, and other thrilling things to explore and discover once you’ve set foot in your new home for the next four to five years.

You just always have to keep in mind that you can also have a fun experience in other schools and you’ll just have to research more about them. You were able to pass these prestigious universities? Awesome! Or you weren’t able to pass the Big Four schools? That’s okay!

In a campus like St. Scholastica’s College Manila, everyone will definitely help you once you’re out of your comfort zone and will push you to become the better and brighter version of yourself. Regardless of the results, choose what you think is best for you. Make the most out of it.
