Becoming a flight attendant will allow you to travel around the world for free; In fact, you actually get paid to travel! A flight attendant’s salary may go up to P36,000 to P54,000 per month for those who are highly trained and experienced.

It’s no wonder the profession is sought-after by countless job seekers.

And if you’re one of them, this list will answer your whats and hows of starting a career as a flight attendant:

  • What qualities should I have?

Before enjoying all the perks of the job, hopeful flight attendants have to conform to thorough standards.

The requirements vary per airline, but the common ones are:

Height

Most airlines require at least 5’2 in height. It’s usually a strict requirement, since it would affect the flight attendant’s ability to do their job (e.g. reaching overhead bins).

Appearance

Flight attendants must look presentable to keep a professional image. This includes standards such as good teeth, no visible tattoos, and weight proportional to one’s height.

Personality

As much as you love to travel, you should also love people. Being people and service-oriented is crucial to ensuring passengers’ safety and comfort.  Moreover, you’ll be expected to be poised, tactful and courteous at all times.

  • What course should I take to become a flight attendant?

The minimum requirement is a high school diploma, but some airlines increasingly prefer college graduates.

Worried your college major isn’t related at all to the field? Good news: There is no specific educational requirement to become a flight attendant! However, graduates from people-oriented disciplines* such as travel and tourism, communications, psychology, nursing, and education could have an advantage.
