Who said learning about the senior high school and choosing your future would be boring?
In partnership with Muntinlupa City Government and Department of Education – School Division Office (DepEd-SDO), Edukasyon.ph held the largest two-day Senior High School Fair in Southern Metro Manila last 27-28 February!
This event provided a venue for students and parents to discover career pathways; inquire to senior high schools; and apply to these schools. As the second year of the K-12 program rolls out, this will be an increasingly relevant topic for rising Grade 11 students.
Speaking to over 5,000 students, Muntinlupa Congressman Ruffy Biazon underscored the importance of going to senior high to become productive citizens in the country. “Kapag nakapagtapos tayo ng estudyante sa ilalim ng K12 system, employable at productive ang ating mamamayan (If students finish the K-12 system, our people can now be employable and productive because not everyone will go to college),” he said.
“[S]a ilalim ng basic education, ang graduates pwede nang maging productive. Pwede ng maging employable [dahil] meron [na silang] karagdagang skills na tungo sa paghahanapbuhay (Under this basic education, the graduates will be productive. They are employable because they will have additional job-ready skills),” Biazon added.
Taking over from Congressman Biazon’s opening, Career Development Association of the Philippines President Mari Jose shared the secrets to achieving career success. She talked about planning a career at an early stage and gave students an overview of how senior high school decisions could change the course of their future.
After Ms. Mari’s presentation, Edukasyon.ph’s very own Jerald Laparan and Jaz Malonda claimed the stage and dug deeper into what the senior high tracks are all about. Definitely this is the students’ favorite part because Jaz and Jerald gave away exciting prizes! (*ehem* Thank you four our internet network partner, SMART! *ehem*).
There were lots of singing, dancing, and checking of who could be the last man standing.
Kids were able to muster all the energy they have during the game, Ganern KNB?, and tested themselves to see if they are senior high ready na!
But the expo wouldn’t be an expo without the fair! Lots, and when I said lots I mean, LOTS of kids visited it (Thank you for the Edukasyon love, guys!)
At the end of the day, all we would want to say is THANK YOU FOR EVERYONE WHO WENT TO OUR FAIR! (Let’s do the Edukasyon Waaaaaaaave!)
FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) with the fair, beshie? Don’t worry. We gotchu, fam! The Muntinlupa senior high fair is only the first of the many Senior High School Fairs across Metro Manila planned by Edukasyon.ph.
The next SHS Fairs will be held in Pasay City on March 15; Manila on March 20-23; and Quezon City on March 27.
Hope you are there when we do the next Edukasyon wave!
