2. PACIFIC RING OF FIRE AND CHUGA-CHUGA

/v/ The song and dance number for the freshies as part of their Atenean initiation.

 

3. ORSEM AND TNT

/n/ The orientation seminar (OrSEM) and talk and tour (TNT) that every freshman goes through (this is where they do the Pacific Ring of Fire and Chuga-Chuga dance).

 

4. KATIP

/n/ Short for Katipunan. Note: it’s KATIP not KATIPS. Another Note: pronounced as KATIP not KATIIIP.

 

5. AISIS

/n/ Not the radical terrorist group but the Ateneo Integrated Student Information System.

 

6. DACANAY

/n/ A teacher who gives a surprise quiz when Ateneo gets defeated on UAAP.

 

7. DOLLHOUSE

/n/ The safest LGBT place where a Queen Mother reigns.

 

8. SMOCKET

/n/ Small places (pockets) where students are allowed to smoke cigarette.

 

9. MANANG’S

/n/ A place where there’s ihaw-ihaw and located behind the Cov Courts (covered courts kasi, schoolmate).

 

10. ATE ALMA

/n/ The kind-hearted lady who is your pangga and photocopies your readings.

 

BONUS WORD: AMDG

Originally means Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam which is the motto of St. Ignatius and the Jesuits. It is literally translated to ‘For the Greater Glory of God’. But for students who are cramming, it’s ANG MATULOG DI GAGRADUATE.
