5 Things You Didn’t Know About FEU Roosevelt

What do you look for in your dream school?

There is no one-size-fits-all when choosing a school. Some students look for schools offering quality education, while others consider affordable school fees, state-of-the-art facilities, or particular learning styles (and the list goes on!). Which one tops your list?

Choosing your alma mater is one of the most important decisions you’ll make as a student. When done right, it can set you up for success in your future career! The dilemma now is knowing which of the schools around you is the one. (We feel you.)

If you’re a student from the Rizal province or eastern Metro Manila, chances are, you have seen or heard about FEU Roosevelt (formerly Roosevelt College Inc.), at least once in your life. That’s no surprise though since RCI, now FEU Roosevelt has been around for decades!

Do you want to know more about FEU Roosevelt? Let’s get you started with these 5 quick facts!

1. FEU Roosevelt (formerly Roosevelt College) has been around for more than 80 years.

First established in 1933 as Marikina Academy, FEUR has a long track record of academic excellence. 87 years to be exact! Throughout the years, the school has gone through a lot of changes to serve the educational needs of its students.

From name changes to campus expansions and new learning approaches—fit for a new generation of learners—FEUR’s done it.

P.S. Find an FEU Roosevelt campus near you! There’s one in Cainta, Marikina, and Rodriguez.

2. It teaches students through a blended learning approach.

Here’s a fact: teaching styles that worked ten years ago will not necessarily work on students today. Times change, and so do students! That’s why FEUR employs a unique method of teaching called the “Blended Learning” approach. Does it ring a bell?

Through this setup, learning is not limited to traditional lectures. Students like you get to maximize e-learning tools (thanks, technology!) and actively participate in extra-curricular activities for a well-rounded learning experience. Sounds exciting!

Here are some e-learning tools you can look forward to at FEUR:

Canvas

Think of it as an online classroom! Complete with lessons, assignments and… well, quizzes. US Ivy League schools like Harvard and Yale use this, too!

Robotics

All hands on… the lab! Through this program, FEU Roosevelt Tamaraws develop creativity and critical thinking skills while learning the basics of science.

3. It’s home to politicians and other prominent personalities.

Nothing speaks more of a school’s legacy than its graduates. Don’t you think? And tbh, FEUR’s got an impressive list of alumni from the senate halls to the big screen! Do you know any graduate from the list? You never know. Your potential schoolmates could be part of this list, too!

  • Eduardo Año – Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary
  • Allan Caidic – retired professional basketball player
  • Del De Guzman – former Marikina mayor
  • Edgardo Angara – former senator
  • Esperanza “Zsa Zsa” Padilla – actress & singer
  • Novelita “Nova Villa” Villanueva – actress

4. It’s committed to helping students develop a love for learning.

How do you raise a generation of students that loves learning? You enable them through time, resources, and proper guidance, and that’s exactly what FEUR is doing!

By investing in an immersive library, students develop a love for reading and writing regardless of their academic level, and actually see their progress over time. Now, that’s student-centered learning.

P.S. Did you know the school used to offer an Adult Education Program for working students who want to finish high school and pursue a college education? There’s no such thing as too late when it comes to learning!

5. It’s a member of the Far Eastern University Group of Schools.

Yes, you read that right! FEUR is part of the FEU family. Under FEU’s leadership, the school underwent major developments—from the teachers’ capacity building to school facilities improvement. All to say that this partnership hopes to equip students to be future-ready through affordable and quality education!
