Everything You Need To Know About Flight Training

As one of the highest paying jobs in the world, becoming a licensed pilot is a promising career. To earn your pilot license, you have to first undergo flight training. Are you an aspiring pilot in the future? Here’s everything you should know about flight training!

What is flight training?

Flight training is where aviation students learn how to fly an aircraft. The training is composed of two parts: ground school and flight lessons. In ground school, students learn theoretical concepts of aviation like the common techniques of flying and different types of aircrafts. During flight lessons, students apply these concepts to be able to fly an airplane using a flight simulator.

What can I learn from flight training?

Flight training will teach you the basic and advanced principles of aviation. The course will focus on the following subject areas:

Air Law

The branch of law that concerns flight, air travel, and associated legal and business concerns

Aircraft General Knowledge

The study of different types of aircrafts

Flight Performance and Planning

The study of aircraft’s capabilities in various stages of flight (take-off, climb, cruise flight, descending, landing) and how flight performance is affected by atmosphere conditions

Meteorology

The study of the atmosphere that focuses on weather processes and forecasting

Navigation

The process of planning, recording, and controlling the movement of an aircraft

Operational Procedures

The set of policies and procedures made during a flight to accomplish work efficiently

Principle of Flight

The study of aerodynamics forces that affect movement of the airplane through the atmosphere

Radio Telephony

A set of standardized words and phrases used in all routine aircraft situations by pilots and air traffic controllers

Radio NAV Aids

The application of radio frequencies used to track down the location of aircrafts

During flight training, students will develop their flying, maneuvering, and radio navigation skills.

How much does flight training cost?

The cost of most flight course trainings range from $30,000 to $35,000 (USD) or Php 1,500,000 to Php 1,750,000 with food and accommodation provided. Flight training usually lasts for 7-8 months. The program includes commercial pilot courses with instrument and multi-engine rating.

What are the things I should consider while applying for flight training school?

Flight school’s safety rules and procedures

Before you enroll in a flight school, read about the safety rules and procedures that ensure students’ safety during flight training. You can also clarify the school’s insurance policies for student pilots like you in case of unfortunate incidents. Safety first!

Quality of the aircrafts, equipment, and facilities used in flight training

As much as possible, choose a flight school that is equipped with the latest instrument training tools and flight simulators. Look for a school that has its own exclusive airfield for safety purposes. You can also check if the school invests in modern aircraft fleets that are top quality, well-maintained, and are guaranteed safe for flight training.

Study Now, Pay Later training programs

The cost of studying in flight schools often reaches the million mark, and it would be a pain in the pocket!  The good news is there are study now, pay later programs offered by schools and airline companies! If you’re looking for ways to fund your aviation studies, this might be the opportunity for you!

With great flying skills comes great responsibility. There are hundreds of passengers relying on the pilot for their safe travels. So if you’re aspiring to become a pilot in the future, remember to give flight training your best shot!
