Universities to Consider if You Live in Southern Luzon

If you are from CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) or MIMAROPA (Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon at Palawan), consider yourself very lucky as your place is home to several tourist destinations in the country such as Laiya Beaches in Batangas, Pagsanjan Falls in Laguna, Underground River in Palawan,  and a lot more. But for graduating senior high students, you’d be happy to know that Southern Luzon is also home to some of the best colleges in the country.   1. University of Rizal System (RIZAL)


University of Rizal System or URS is a merger of different state colleges and universities in Rizal – Rizal Polytechnic College, Rizal State College and the Rizal Technological University Antipolo Annex. Today, it has several campuses in different cities of Rizal, but its main branch is located in Tanay, Rizal.


URS offers different courses such as Business Administration, Office Administration, Psychology, Tourism Management and Agriculture. The university also has a commitment to the agri industry as it provides several kinds of courses like Agro-Forestry, Agricultural Engineering and Agricultural Technology.


  1. Southern Luzon State University (QUEZON)


Located in the provincial capital of Quezon, Southern Luzon State University or SLSU is the premiere institution of higher learning in the province. It also has satellite campuses all over Quezon province. SLSU has seven colleges namely College of Arts and Sciences, College of Agriculture, College of Allied Medicine, College of Engineering, College of Industrial Technology, College of Business Administration, and College of Teachers of Education.




  1.  Divine Word College  of San Jose  (OCCIDENTAL MINDORO)


Divine Word College of San Jose is the oldest school in Occidental Mindoro. The college offers different undergraduate courses like English, Communication, Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Accountancy and many more.


  1. Marinduque State College (MARINDUQUE)


Marinduque State College aims to “provide quality, responsive and dynamic leadership in the areas of Education, Technology, Engineering, Environment, Agriculture, Fisheries, Culture, Arts and Sciences.” Aside from its main campus located in Boac, the college has three other campuses located in different parts of Marinduque – Gasan, Torrijos and Sta. Cruz. Each campus has its own flagship program with the main campus focused on Secondary Education, Engineering, Technology, Arts and Science, Computer, and Allied Medicine.


  1. Romblon State University (ROMBLON)


Romblon State University is very accessible to Romblomanons as it has 9 campuses all over Romblon situated in Cajidiocan, Calatrava, San Agustin, San Andres, San Fernando, Sawang, Santa Fe and in Sta. Maria, while its main campus is located in Odiongan.


The university also offers five different fields of study for aspiring college students namely Education, Business and Accountancy, Engineering and Technology, Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, and Arts and Sciences.


  1. Western Philippines University (PALAWAN)


Western Philippines University is focused on providing the best quality education in the field of agriculture, forestry, teacher education, criminal justice education, fisheries and aquatic sciences, arts and sciences, and business management. WPU’s main campus is located in Arborlan, Palawan but it is accessible to most Palawenos as it has seven branches.
