Acads is life doesn’t apply if you can no longer function the best way you can. So why not make time for that much-needed break? But there to go? CDO! True to the tagline “City of Golden Friendship”, Cagayan de Oro can surely welcome your tired bones and heavy head with open arms.

Here are a few places students can visit and do while in Cagayan:

If you’re eager to escape the stress from acads and org life, you don’t have to go far. On a quiet isolated location in Indahag, Cagayan de Oro City lies Eden’s Solace, where you can enjoy the cool, fresh air, and the breathtaking sunset over Cagayan de Oro City. Perfect for a soul-searching moment!

2. Librewry Cafe

If you can’t really leave behind the mountains of paperwork, worry no more! Librewry Cafe is the place to go when you need to juggle between academics and some “me” time for the bookworms.

The name “Librewry” means “a brew within a library”. Apparently, it used to be the owner’s feasibility study way back in college and decided to pursue the business for all the bookworms alike.

 3. Mapawa Nature Park

According to research, nature sounds help calm brain activity. And there’s no better way to immerse yourself than through natural relaxation. Mapawa Nature Park is a natural haven for both nature lovers and for people who needs a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. This nature park is one of the projects that help educate and inspire people to care for the environment.

4. Seven Seas Waterpark and Resort

If you’re up for a fun way to destress yourself, Seven Seas Waterpark and Resort is your top destination. Considered as a world-class pirate-themed waterpark in Mindanao, Seven Seas challenges you to take the plunge with all its water slides and rides. One of its many slides is the Cyclone, a 6-story high cone-shaped slide. Ride and inflatable with four of the best people you trust and whoosh!

5. White Water Rafting

And if the waterpark is not adventurous enough for you, try White Water Rafting!

Cagayan de Oro City is home to some of the most scenic and exhilarating whitewater rafting since 1995. Like all extreme water sports, Water rafting will surely pump your adrenaline more than your favorite coffee mix. And if you are able to overcome this one, ain’t no waves of school work big enough for you.

Now if you know this song, come and sing along with us (here’s a quick video just in case you don’t):

“People stay in Cagayan, Cagayan Park View Hotel. In the middle of the City, you sleep like a baby, I love this place I love to stay in Cagayan… Park View Hotel”

This famous advertising song about Cagayan de Oro is not an official song of the city, but most locals enjoy singing along to this tune.

Sure, school can be quite stressful. But it’s all a matter of time management between your priorities as a student and your need for relaxation. (We’re only human after all!) And Cagayan de Oro provides all the leisure activities you can possibly think when you need to unwind for some time.
