Big dreams are often equated with success and fulfillment, but can mean many different things to different people. Some aim for an internationally distinguished title, some hope for a grand business exit, while others seek a quiet, yet meaningful life.
But what do you do when your dreams start to feel waaay bigger than you. Every big dream can seem intimidating and overwhelming at the beginning. It can even seem daunting the moment you start making it happen.
Every successful person in the world started with a big dream. So, whatever it is – go all in!
Set your “unicorn goal”
“Unicorn goals” are dreams that are larger than life. These are very specific goals you want to achieve in the next few years. In short – these are your ultimate goals! The idea is to decide on your big dream or “unicorn goal” so you can start creating a roadmap to move you closer to it.
“I will be the next Steve Jobs.”
“I will put up my own company.”
“I will be the President of the country.”
“I will win a Nobel prize.”
Break it down
Now that you know the big goal you want to achieve, it’s time to break it down. Cut that big dream into chunks that you can digest and act on, today. Think of the steps you’ll need to get to that big dream.
Say you want to put up your own company. You can start with questions like: What kind of company do I want to put up? What will my product be? What kind of education will I need to enable me to start this company?
The farther you get to breaking the big dream down, the more actionable the steps become. Break it down enough until you identify things you can do today.
Doing the things we’ve mentioned above already puts you at an advantage. In fact, having a rough plan is more than what most people have.
Wuhoo! Go, you! Next thing to do – START.
“What do you mean? How?!”
As daunting as “starting” sounds you just have to. Goals – no matter how great – are just good intentions unless backed with action.
You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just need one step that gets you closer. Take it one day at a time, and start with the small things. Just make sure you’re actually moving towards the direction you want to go.
Find a mentor
Once you’ve drafted a rough roadmap and started taking steps to get to your big goal, next order of business is to find someone who has been there and done that.
Knowing someone who has already walked the path you’re headed is a big help. They can refine the roadmap you’ve planned out and show you ways to shorten your journey. They can even introduce you to more people that can help! Plus, if they allow you to shadow them, you’ll learn the tricks of the trade! After all, there’s no better way to learn that to see and experience it for yourself.
Tip: Match “what you need” to get to your goal, and find a mentor for every aspect.

Among all steps, this may be the most challenging as it requires conscious effort every single day. But that’s what sets successful people apart from everyone else. They are willing to put in the work and clock in the hours necessary to make their dreams come true.
When it comes to dream-building, consistency is the ability to put in the same amount of effort every single day without loss of enthusiasm for your dreams. It’s a lot of small things that build your big dreams.
After you’ve done these, you get to a point where you just have to trust that you are on your way to success. It’s human nature to want to control everything. But, sometimes you have to let go a little and focus on the everyday steps you can take.
Trust in the skills you are building and the steps you are taking – before you know it, you’ve found your success. And we, at Edukasyon.ph are cheering for you every step of the way!
