“Discovering senior high school tracks and college courses, preparing for future careers and acquiring more educational opportunities through Edukasyon.ph both local and abroad” was the theme of Tagum City Senior High School and College Education Fair. The event took place last February 12 and 19, 2018 at the brand new City Hall of Tagum atrium and was participated by more than 5,000 grade 10 and 12 students.
The fair was organized by Edukasyon.ph, the leading platform for senior high school and college students looking for schools, courses, scholarships, and student-centric content. Being an EdTech social enterprise, Edukasyon.ph also carries out offline initiatives such as career clinics, school fairs, and engagement talks to push its mission of providing access to opportunities and information on education-to-employment.
Through its collaboration with the Public Employment and Education Service Office, Department of Education, and the Office of the Mayor of Tagum City together with Monde Nissin and ASUS Philippines, the 2-day expo became a groundbreaking success.
The 5 program speakers were professionals in the academe who discussed the 4 strands under the academic track of Senior High School namely Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM), Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS), and General Academic Strand (GAS) while the last speaker led the discussion around the Technical-Vocational Livelihood (TVL) track.
The panel discussion concentrated on grade 10 students’ deeper knowledge and recognition of their skills, capacity, and passion that would supplement and match the program they want to pursue. Moreover, speakers expressed their ideas on how grade 12 students can utilize and integrate their field of study to exit points such as employment possibilities, business endeavors, and higher education.
Some school exhibitors who participated in the event were: Tagum Doctors College, ACES Tagum College, NDC Tagum Foundation, Davao del Norte State College, and St. Thomas More School of Law and Business.
Capping the full day of information sessions were a festival of talents, trivia sessions, and a whole lot of fun and games.
