PASIG CITY – Geared to providing financial inclusivity to the Filipino youth, both City Savings Bank and Edukasyon.ph agreed to work together in encouraging senior high school students to efficiently manage their finances and invest more aggressively in their future.
During the ceremonial signing of the partnership agreement held last December 20, City Savings Bank Chairman of the Board Eugene Acevedo underscored the importance of the role that banking institutions play regarding financial literacy and societal growth.
“Having spent almost 3-5 years in CitySavings, we have changed our view of the world significantly. Once you see what the people really need, once you get out of the corporate ways, we need to move up,” Acevedo said in his speech.
“One proven way of getting out of poverty is getting your education,” he further added.” UnionBank as a group is going to make sure that it completes its digital transformation while at the same time we do this with real purpose for the society which is financial inclusion.”
As part of their partnership, City Savings Bank and Edukasyon.ph agreed to explore online collaborative arrangements such as shared content on financial literacy that can be accessed easily. Meanwhile, both institutions are also looking into the development of a gadget plan that would help students purchase electronic devices and other equipment for school.
“Affordable higher education is a big issue. We are tackling them in three ways: one is we show their lower cost or cheaper options, two is we are the biggest scholarships platform in the country, and three is we are looking into student loans,” Edukasyon.ph Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Henry Motte-Muñoz said.
Edukasyon.ph is a social enterprise in the education technology sector that connects students to education opportunities through an online portal, www.edukasyon.ph, and promotes career awareness among the Filipino youth.
