Edukasyon.ph kicks off EdukAbroad Luncheon Lecture Series with the British Council

In celebration of United Nations Month, Edukasyon.ph, a social enterprise that offers a website of college and scholarship opportunities, launched its EdukAbroad Guidance Luncheon Lectures. Created to provide guidance counselors and school administrators a venue for discussion for study abroad, this series provides school administrators an opportunity to know more about student opportunities for studies abroad.

For the first leg of the lectures, Edukasyon.ph in cooperation with the British Council Philippines, the United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations, held the EdukAbroad Information Session on United Kingdom (UK) Summer and Winter Programs at the Discovery Suites.

Edukasyon.ph’s Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Linartes Viloria, opened the event highlighting the importance of international exposure of students for the younger generation of today.  To give the audience an overview of the Summer and Winter programs, Mr. Alec Ladanga, British Council’s Programme and Partnership Development Manager, discussed the various UK schools and universities which opened its doors to Filipino students for its 2015 summer and winter programs. The summer and winter programs are offered for diverse areas of study which expose students to the British Education system and culture which will prepare them for college life in the UK. Invited to speak about the Filipino student experience in the UK was Ms. Fe De Jesus, Guidance Counselor of Ateneo De Manila High School, who shared the experiences of Ateneo students at St. Bedes College, Manchester, United Kingdom.

More than 40 principals and guidance counselors participated at the first session which include Ateneo de Manila High School, Australian International School, De La Salle Lipa, De La Salle Zobel,  Fountain International School, Jubilee Christian Academy, Malayan High School of Science, Maria Montessori Foundation, Miriam College High School, Multiple Intelligence International School, New Era High School, St Scholastica’s College – Marikina, The British School, University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, and the Victory Christian International School.

The 2nd Information Session will be on scholarships of the United World Colleges (UWC) Philippines. This will be held at the Mahatma Gandhi International School on November 21, 2014, Friday, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
