Edukasyon.ph CARES program transforms Iloilo social workers to local career heroes

STA. BARBARA, Iloilo – In partnership with Lifebank Foundation (LBF), Edukasyon.ph held the College and Career Awareness and Readiness Education Seminar (CARES) in the city training 23 local team leaders as part of the efforts to raise career awareness and empower Filipino students in their education journey leading to enhanced employability.

The one-day training workshop was held last April 27 at Life Academy, Santa Barbara, Iloilo. The sessions allowed participants to understand the importance of guiding families into helping their children think more carefully about their educational choices to make sure that the children are job-ready once they graduate.

Citing current youth unemployment statistics, Edukasyon.ph Chief Marketing and Partnerships Officer Cara Wilson underscored the need to guide students as they discover the right track or course for them; choose the right career; and apply to their dream school. “There is massive youth unemployment yet equally massive entry-level skills shortage,” she said.

“In doing career seminars around the country, we learned that talking to the students alone is not enough because it takes a village to raise a child. So we developed the CARES program, a holistic training and community mentoring program for parents, teachers, guidance counselors and school administrators in addition to students,” she added.

“To empower these students’ choices, we created an innovative and creative training workshop that would provide education stakeholders such as teachers and parents, with the proper career guidance tools and methods,” she further explained.

Wilson also noted that this program supports the Kinder to 12 (K-12) or Senior High School Program of the Department of Education. “We train teachers, school administrators, and even parents because we believe that career awareness is a shared responsibility between the school, the community, and the family. Our website, www.edukasyon.ph, serves as a  free tool for career planning and guidance beyond our training sessions.”

“At Edukasyon.ph, we seek to empower students everyday by being the go-to online portal for all important education to career information as these students discover the right track or course for them; choose the right career; and apply online to their dream school for free,” Wilson further commented.
