Edukasyon.ph, GrabTaxi enlist more than 200 drivers and their kin for scholarship drive

GrabTaxi drivers and their high school children signed up for the GrabSchool scholarship drive during the GrabSchool Program jointly held by Edukasyon.ph and GrabTaxi on July 26, 2015 at the University of Asia and the Pacific.

Edukasyon.ph set up counselling desks during GrabSchool event of GrabTaxi.

The GrabSchool Program is GrabTaxi’s family education outreach program for the benefit of their member taxi drivers and their families. Part of the GrabSchool Program is the Scholarship HelpDesk which gave GrabTaxi drivers and their kids a chance to register to know more about educational opportunities in college and tech-voc education, including scholarships that they can avail of.

“We are happy to be part of this program that can help our taxi drivers plan, advice and finance their children’s education for college and technical-vocational courses,” said Edukasyon.ph Chief Executive Officer Linartes M. Viloria.

During the event, Edukasyon.ph set up online counseling desks where parents and their children can register for free.  At the counseling desks, they are able to browse the site and choose courses and scholarships based on what they want to be when they grow up, their interests, location, and budget preferences.  More than 150 students from Grades 9-11 were able to register at the Scholarship HelpDesk.

Through the Scholarship HelpDesk of Edukasyon.ph, students and parents were able to browse educational opportunities for free.

Edukasyon.ph has 3,028 schools, 38,468 courses, and 2,743 scholarships on its database that students, parents, and teachers can visit for free.

“With our drivers busy at work, they hardly have the time to sit down with their kids to discuss their plans for college. This initiative gives the drivers a chance to bond with their kids and actively participate in college planning and scholarship hunting,” said Henry Motte-Muñoz, Edukasyon.ph Founder.

Other activities during the GrabSchool Day were innovation and family activities facilitated by partner organizations such as Habi Education Lab and Teach for the Philippines.
