Edukasyon.ph opens online scholarship application for 1,500 aspiring teachers

MAKATI CITY – To reach more young professionals and college graduates who are aspiring to become teachers, Edukasyon.ph, in partnership with the Philippine Business for Education (PBEd), launched an easier and direct online application process for the STEP UP scholarship with 1,500 slots.

By going to http://bit.ly/edukasyonstepup, those who are interested may now apply to the Scholarships for Teacher Education Programs to Upgrade Teacher Quality in the Philippines (STEP UP). This is a scholarship campaign that aims to attract good-performing college graduates and professionals into the teaching profession by offering them competitive scholarship packages.

The STEP UP Teacher Scholarship program is offering up to P140,000 in benefits which covers tuition and miscellaneous fees, monthly allowance, dormitory allowance, and relocation allowance among others. Deadline for application is on August 25.

The scholarship is applicable to their partner schools in Ateneo de Naga, Ateneo de Zamboanga, West Visayas State University, Cebu Normal University, Philippine Normal University, and Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan.

Interested applicants must be a graduate of any Bachelor’s degree except Education and had a General Weighted Average of 85% during their college years. Successful scholars are required to teach in a public school for three years after passing the licensure exam.

Requirements include duly-accomplished STEP UP Application Form that can be found at  http://bit.ly/edukasyonstepup; undergraduate Transcript of Records; Certificate of General Average; and two recommendation forms from the applicant’s teachers or employers.

STEP UP is a scholarship campaign by PBEd that is funded by the Australian Government under the Basic Education Sector Transformation (BEST) program. A total of 1,000 scholarships will be awarded to deserving candidates between the years of 2015 to 2019 that will produce 1,000 high-quality teachers ready for public school employment.
