Going digital: Lifebank Foundation taps Edukasyon.ph to make scholarship applications easier for members

Lifebank Foundation (LBF) has recently partnered with Edukasyon.ph, the country’s leading online platform for schools, courses and scholarships here and abroad, to help raise awareness for its Education Scholarship Program (ESP) online. The partnership allows Lifebank members to conveniently submit their scholarship applications online via Edukasyon.ph.

“With this partnership, we aim to better manage the applications we get from our members. This will not only speed up the process, but also help beneficiaries as they will not have to physically come to our office or pay for a courier to send their application. This also enables them to adapt to the trend by learning and maximizing the use of technology that we have now” said LBF Head of Implementation, Corina Magbanua.

Lifebank, a growing microfinance institution based in Iloilo, aims to be a catalyst in poverty reduction. With this, the Foundation focuses on providing financial and non-financial interventions to micro-entrepreneurs coupled with other social services for their family members.

One of which is the Education Scholarship Program that provides financial assistance including tuition and miscellaneous fees and semestral stipend to deserving dependents of LBF’s Ikabuhi Microfinance Program (IMP) clients. The program aims to help beneficiaries to have better career opportunities in the future by helping them get a vocational or bachelor’s degree of their choice. In addition to that, LBF also empowers the scholars to be productive members of the society by conducting activities like summer youth camps and leadership trainings.

“We are very excited to work with Lifebank Foundation and help them reach out to their members in the digital space. We also hope to make the application process more efficient for Lifebank members through our online scholarships portal,” said Edukasyon.ph co-founder and CEO Henry Motte-Muñoz.

The program started in 2013 with 65 scholars in Bulacan. Now, as of the second semester of school year 2017-2017, LBF has 907 scholars studying in 94 partner universities and colleges around the country. By 2020, the foundation aims to support a total of 5000 scholars. In total, the program has already produced 282 graduates in different fields like education, information technology, business administration, arts and sciences, and agriculture.
