Scholarships as a waiting game? Here’s what you can do with your time:

It’s hard to stay productive while waiting for the results of your scholarship applications. After months of staying up late, working hard on those essays, and preparing for the necessary documents to submit, it’s now time to wait and spend gruelling months of asking yourself “What do I do now?”

Waiting for the results of your scholarship applications can be as nerve-wracking as applying for your dream colleges, so it’s normal to feel stressed and anxious. So, what can a stressed out aspiring scholar do during times like these? Here are some tips on what you can do while you wait for your scholarship results:

  1. Don’t Catch Senioritis

Just because you’re almost done with high school, it doesn’t mean you should let your grades slip! Keep up with your homework and continue to study for your examinations. This will help you take your mind off waiting for your scholarship results, and it will also help you maintain your study habits until you reach college.

  1. Focus on Your Hobbies

Spending most of your time studying will not completely keep you from nagging thoughts about your scholarship applications. So it’s best to allot some of your time to things you enjoy doing. Find time to jog, bake, sing, dance, play basketball, or whatever you have fun doing. This will not only rejuvenate you but it will also give you a more positive outlook in life.

  1. Talk With A Friend

Sometimes the best way to cope with how you’re feeling is to talk about it. Anxious about the results of your scholarship applications? Talk to your friend about it! You’ll feel lighter after you’ve said your worries to someone else. Plus, your friend can help you out in finding more productive ways to pass the time.

  1. Keep An Eye On Your Mail and Email

Financial aid offices may require other documents before granting scholarship awards. This is why it’s best to regularly check your mail and email. Remember to respond promptly to the requests of the scholarships department.

  1. Stay Positive

It probably sounds like a lame advice, but staying positive is key in waiting for the results of scholarship applications. Reminding yourself that you’ve done all you can and avoiding thinking that you could have done better will make a world of difference on your outlook. Remember that once applications have been sent, there’s nothing more you can do to get yourself a scholarship, so stressing over it isn’t going to be productive. Believe in yourself and hope that one of your scholarship applications gets accepted!
