List of Law School Scholarships in the Philippines

Entering law school indeed is not an easy process. Aside from the rigid enrollment process, difficult examinations that you need to pass, and actually surviving each day in the class, pursuing a degree in Law can also be costly. However, there are a number of student aids that could help you reach for your dream. Here’s a list of law school scholarships in the Philippines that you might want to consider:

1. David B. Puyat Scholarship Grant

This scholarship program is provided by the Puyat, Jacinto & Santos Law firm. The grant is awarded to qualified students of the Juris Doctor Program of the University of the Philippines College of Law.

2. San Sebastian College Recoletos De Manila Scholarship

The San Sebastian College Recoletos (SSC-R) De Manila’s College of Law provides various scholarship programs to aspiring lawyers. Students can apply to the following:

  • Latin honor graduates:

100% tuition and miscellaneous fee discount – awarded to freshmen who graduated their bachelor’s degree with a Summa Cum Laude honor.

100% tuition fee discount – provided to students who graduated a bachelor’s degree with a Magna Cum Laude or Cum Laude honors.

  • Board topnotchers:

100% tuition fee discount – awarded to students who belong to the Top 10 placers in the Criminology, Medical, Engineering, Nursing and Accountancy board examinations.

  • Law Entrance Exam top placers:

100% tuition fee discount – to be given to the first, second and third placers in the SSC-R Law Entrance Examinations.

  • Dean’s Listers:

100% tuition fee discount – for the student who ranked first in the Dean’s list. A 50% tuition fee discount will be given to the second placer and 25% for the third placer.

3. Foundation for Liberty and Prosperity Scholarship

The Foundation for Liberty and Prosperity (FLP) and Tan Yan Kee Foundation, in cooperation with the Philippine Association of Law School provides scholarship grants to law students all over the Philippines. Students will be given a monetary scholarship award of PHP 200,000 of which a maximum of PHP 100,000 shall be for tuition fee and PHP 20,000 for book allowance.

4. Ateneo Law School Scholarship

The Ateneo Law School opens free education opportunities to its incoming first-year students through the Teehankee Center for the Rule of Law scholarship. Interested applicants may email teehankeecenterateneolaw@gmail.com to request for application forms and view other program details.

5. University of Asia and the Pacific

The University of Asia and the Pacific Law offers scholarships that are provided either outright or upon application. The Outright Grants are given to the honor graduates in the pre-law course who apply within five (5) years from graduation. They may receive a scholarship consisting of up to 100% free tuition fee. In addition to this, financially challenged honor graduates may receive stipends.

6. De La Salle University (DLSU) Star Scholars Program

The De La Salle University Star Scholars Program is one of the premier scholarship offerings in the university. Students who topped the admission test are carefully screened and selected to have the opportunity to go to medical school, pursue their master’s degree or enroll in the College of Law of DLSU after finishing their undergraduate degree on full scholarship.

7. Manila Law College Scholarship

The entrance scholarship of Manila Law College is given to graduates of 4-year degree courses who received Latin honors or have a GWA of 1.5 or higher. They shall receive full tuition and miscellaneous fee discount for two semesters, as well as a stipend of PHP 2,000 per semester.

8. Philippine College of Criminology

The Philippine College of Criminology’s College of Law offers student financial aids through its entrance scholarships. Aspiring law students can have the chance to avail the full scholarship grant plus a PHP 2,000 stipend for each semester. The program is open to Latin honor graduates or those who garnered a general average of 1.5 or higher.
