It’s one thing to pack your bags and book a trip to Australia. But it’s a whole new world and bigger beast to study there and pay for your education. This country-slash-continent boasts the highest quality of life and education in the world, so we’re not going to sugarcoat it—tuition and rent ain’t cheap.
But don’t be too hesitant to set your sights on an Australian education. There are a bunch of Australian scholarships for international students this 2019 for you to check out. Here’s a list for starters.
Australia Awards Scholarship 2020 (Undergraduate, Postgraduate levels)
An Australia Awards Scholarship grants you the opportunity to study in an internationally recognized Australian institution. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) organized this fully funded scholarship specifically for students from developing countries—particularly countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
So, yes! Philippine students are welcome candidates. Successful applicants also get the following benefits:
- Full tuition fees
- Return air travel
- Establishment allowance
- Contribution to Living Expenses (CLE)
- Introductory Academic Program (IAP)

Australian Government Research Training Program (Postgraduate level)
On behalf of the Australian Department of Education and Training, the Research Training Program (RTP) is a type of grant that will fund your research in your postgraduate studies. This scholarship is open to students undertaking Research Doctorate and Research Masters degrees, also known as higher degrees by research (HDRs).
The funding scheme is made flexible to allow individuals to build careers in the academe. Because of this arrangement, the RTP scholarship can offer you one (or more) of the following:
- Offset tuition fees
- Stipend for general living costs
- Allowances related to research costs
The RTP is individually administered per participating university. Each institution has its own processes and forms, so applications need to be made directly to each of your chosen universities. Here’s the list of all participating Australian universities that provide a Research Training Program.
