So you want to study in the land down under, eh? One huge benefit to studying in Australia is that you don’t have a language barrier. Plus, it’s a country that boasts a melting pot of cultures. You’ll find just about anyone from anywhere over there. Each city has a unique personality, too, with awesome sights you can check out during your free time.

Still undecided as to which uni to apply to? According to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), here are the top 5 Australian universities for Filipino students to check out this 2019!

Australian National University (Canberra)

Australian National University (ANU) is the top 1 university in Australia according to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) rankings. Studying here situates you in the Australian capital city of Canberra, where parliament and government hold sessions. This is one of the best Australian universities for Filipino students interested in political science, social policy and administration, arts and humanities, history, and even archaeology. Given its national university status, it boasts a high ranking of graduate employability.

University of Melbourne

Times Higher Education places the University of Melbourne as the #1 university in Australia. They’ve got a unique approach to education you won’t find anywhere else. You choose a course but craft your own path, subjects, and direction from there. It’s based on the understanding that students don’t always stay in the same industry after graduating. Instead, education is about learning skills and adapting them successfully, whatever field you enter.

University of Sydney

The University of Sydney is the first university established in Australia. The locals call it one of the original sandstone universities. Basically, it looks like an Australian Hogwarts. Heart eyes, anyone? It’s got museums and galleries inside the campus and a whopping 11 libraries spanning its campuses. More importantly, humanities, sports-related subjects, accounting & finance, as well as pharmacy courses are its ranking fields.

University of New South Wales (Sydney)

Here’s another leading Australian university for teaching and research. In Australia, the University of New South Wales (UNSW) ranks first in the following subjects: finance, management, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering among others. Additionally, UNSW has various other campuses spanning the hustling and bustling city of Sydney including its sleek and ultra-modern Art and Design building.

University of Queensland (Brisbane)

The University of Queensland is Aussie’s 5th oldest university. Its beautiful sandstone campus buildings shine in the sun! They rank for environmental sciences and various engineering programs—particularly mining, chemical, and civil engineering. If you’re looking for student life, this is the place. They’ve got an on-campus fitness center, the largest library in the state, a Market Day, also a Chatime (because priorities).
