Are you a Visayas resident who’s applying for an education in Australia, Canada or the USA, but needs to take the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) before doing so?
Fortunately, you don’t have to rely on Luzon to take your IELTS, because Visayans can also take the IELTS in Cebu!
For starters, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) serves as a language assessment test for non-native English speakers who intend to pursue their education or work abroad. And in order to be eligible for these opportunities in other English-speaking countries, you will need to get a good score in the IELTS for your employers and schools!
So what do you need to know about taking the IELTS test in Cebu? This guide will teach you where to go, how to apply, and what to expect:
Are there any requirements that I should take before the exam?
Before you can start booking for the exam, you will first need a government-issued valid ID. Keep in mind that you are only allowed to present any of the following:
- Government Services Insurance System (GSIS) ID
- Passport (must be valid at least six months before the test date)
- Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) ID
- Social Security System (SSS) ID
- Unified Multipurpose ID (UMID)
How can I apply for the exam?
First off, you’ll need to register before you can book an exam.
But before you can start, make sure to contact the institutions that you’re eyeing and ask which specific IELTS type, module and band score do they require from you. Each of these exams have different test scores and will also depend on the course or profession you’re eyeing.
Pick the test date that you want along with your test location and keep your test documents at hand.
Then register through this IELTS website. Select the type of test that you want. Once you’re done selecting the module of your choice along with your testing site and the date, click “Continue” and “Create New User”. Use your e-mail address to fill out the necessary details and prepare the candidate details. Once you’re done, upload a scanned copy of your valid ID.
Also keep in mind that the online registration procedure only lasts for 30 minutes.
Once you’re done, you can opt to pay for your IELTS exam online or offline. For offline payments, you can do your transaction through Metrobank, Bayad Center or through the IDP Ortigas office.
For online transactions, you can pay through Paypal. Make sure that your payment must be settled within 48 hours after you’ve finished your application for the IELTS exam, otherwise your test booking will be forfeited.
How would I know if the IELTS testing center received my payment?
Once these testing centers have received your payment, you will be informed of your transaction through a payment confirmation, which they will send through the e-mail that you used. You will also receive a test confirmation e-mail a week before the day of your exam, which contains both your schedule and the testing site.
What test formats are available in Cebu?
Cebu’s IELTS testing centers offer the three test formats along with these prices. Each of these exams offer certain items, depending on the exam that you chose to apply for. The IELTS Life Skills (A/B) costs P10,415 while the IELTS for UKVI (Academic or General Training Module) is priced at P13,885. Meanwhile, applicants who choose to take the Standard IELTS Test (Academic or General Training Module) can opt for a cheaper price at P10,270.
