There will be a volume requirement for Japanese Speaking Crew in 2019 especially with Princess Cruises launching its new ship Sky Princess. Ms. Stephanie Murillo, the Recruitment Specialist of Magsaysay Careers – the recruitment arm of Magsaysay Maritime Corporation at the Career Talk, shared this announcement at the Career Talk held at Multilingual Incorporated last December 5.
The luxury line will specifically target the Asian Market – Japan, Korea, and China. Hence, the high demand for Japanese Speaking crew to entertain and interact with passengers. Topping the list of hospitality positions would be Food and Beverage servers comprising of Food Attendant, Waiters, Bartenders, and the like. Second in demand are Housekeeping crew – room attendants, laundry etc.
Entertainers and stage crews, such as photographers and lights and sounds technicians, are very much needed as well. The rest are General Services such as massage therapists, recreational staff, gym instructor, as well as casino dealers, pool attendants. Anything and everything needed to serve the needs of cruise passengers and operate the vessel.
As per Ms. Murillo, a vessel would need at least 800 Filipinos to operate. Furthermore, Magsaysay is expecting to handle 22 vessels in the next 6 years. Therefore, cruise ship crew aspirants are highly encouraged to acquire the Japanese language skill as early as now.
