Student Spotlight: Mariana Esper, Student Government Association President at UIW

There are a handful of international students at University of Incarnate Word. In this feature, we find out what international students are up to on campus and within the San Antonio community!

Meet Mariana Barron Esper, the Student Government Association President at UIW. Learn more about her role in Student Government, her studies, and how she lives out the UIW mission.

All About Mariana

Mariana is an international student originally from Queretaro, Mexico and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. She will be graduating in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in Music.

When asked about her role in student government this is what she had to say:

“As the Student Government Association President, I represent and advocate for the betterment of student population at UIW. Me and other officers of SGA develop projects and initiatives with the hopes to help the student body have a fulfilled college experience so that they are ready life after graduation.”

Living the UIW Mission

She was also excited to share how she lives out the UIW Mission.

“I strive to live out the UIW mission by seeking to incorporate faith, service, education and innovation in the pursuit of the truth in my everyday life. I seek to expand my vision and college experience by taking advantage of all the many resources, events and opportunities the university provides to push my comfort zone and be the best I can be for the greater good of others.”

International students like Mariana have made a positive impact in the UIW community. Way to go Mariana!
